In May 2014, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijan’s national writer, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic, outstanding playwright Ilyas Mohammed oglu Afandiyev.
As a master who created his style on the basis of the great traditions of classical literary thought, Ilyas Afandiyev made a valuable contribution to the treasury of the verbal art of our people. Rich in artistic achievements, the writer’s legacy had a fruitful influence on the formation of a new stage in our literature. The dramaturgy of Ilyas Afandiyev takes its significant place in shaping the modern appearance of the Azerbaijani theater scene.
Guided by paragraph 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in order to ensure the holding of the 100th anniversary of Ilyas Afandiyev, who has important merits in the development of national literature, I decree:
1. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, taking into account the proposals of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan, to prepare and implement a plan of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national writer Ilyas Afandiyev.
2. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic shall resolve issues arising from this Order.
