In 2009, at the award ceremony which was held in the Presidential palace of the Republic of Bulgaria, attended by the government officials, members of the government, representatives of various government agencies in Bulgaria, as well as the representatives of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ilyas Afandiyev Foundation, the President of the Republic Mr. Georgi Parvanov expressed his gratitude for the high appreciation of his work, thanked the leadership and the members of the Board of the Ilyas Afandiyev Foundation. Accepting the award with a sense of joy, Georgi Parvanov said that he has got acquainted with Ilyas Afandiyev’s works recently and it made such an impression on him that he was going to charge to do the translation of his works.
Mr. Parvanov also noted that awarding him the Prize is intended to promote cooperation between the state structures of Bulgaria and the Ilyas Afandiyev Foundation.
